This was the perfect industrial building for the background. I made the picture in IJmuiden, the Netherlands.
I needed to create a mock up to find out how the light was working on my face and clothes. I carefully chose the simple clothes with the intention to be a bit timeless.
And this was the picture with the best expression.
My apartment in Alkmaar was located above a hairdresser and a bakery. My hair was platinum and the lingering smells were delicious. GEBAK means confectionery.
The first layer of paint.
Here you see there was some other action on the left side. I reconsidered that part was not constructive for the subject of the painting (but probably the real reason was; the view on painting another hundreds of tiny bricks drove me crazy …)
