Taxus Glacialis

Taxus Glacialis, frozen scene landscape ice by patricia van lubeck

Taxus glacialis was first described in 1911 by explorer R.F.Scott and was mainly found on the outer edges of the Ross Ice Shelf in Antarctica.
Apart from the fact that their roots penetrated deep into the ice, very little is known about this species. The last known example was transported to Heidelberg university in 1936 but sadly did not survive.
