Oil on panel, 80 x 80 cm (2000)
Recently I found some historical pictures of the making of of this painting. Although this one was finished in the year 2000, it seems I started the first layers of oil paint 5 years before. I realized this, because I moved out of the apartment on the fourth picture in 1995.
Sometimes during the process, a painting has to sit against the wall for a couple of years. Waiting for me until I figured out why I wasn’t happy with it.
The beauty of painting on wooden panel is; there is some room left to change composition. With a saw. Like you can see; the painting started it’s life as a rectangle, to become a square format later on. That was the trick to kept me going and finish this self-portrait.
The original painting is sold, but the creation of a giclée on demand is possible
